"It is no exaggeration to say that my first Sports Massage changed how I view my body. As a sports person myself I certainly knew the pain of injury and overuse. And, at that time having a desk bound career, I also knew how uncomfortable I was getting in my own body. Receiving that first Sports Massage showed me that taking care of my body is an important component of health.

Chris Newton.

Can Sports & Remedial Massage Help My Pain?

Sports and Remedial massage is an amalgamation of hands on techniques drawn from Massage, Physiotherapy and Osteopathy. The aim is to choose techniques that promote tissue health when pain or discomfort is felt.

Gone are the days of overly deep and painful pressure, it is now fully understood that deep tissue massage should encourage muscular release rather that force it.

The two parts to the title "Sports" and "Remedial" refer to the fact that some methods are very good for resolving issues of over training in sports, whilst others are ideal for helping those non-sports people deal with aches, pain and injuries of day-to-day life.

Our approach, as always, is to collaborate with you in the treatment process so that we are able to improve the levels of comfort in your body.

Why Choose Muscle Therapies?

Chris Newton has been treating people in pain with advanced Sports and Remedial Massage techniques for 15 years. He spends time listening to you and systematically working out and optimising his approach, so that you receive the best and most appropriate treatment for your condition.

For over a decade he has been a senior tutor for the UK's leading sports massage school - NLSSM School of Sports Massage, where he helps to develop the curriculum and the careers of newly qualified therapists.

Chris is regularly asked to present at national conferences, educating his peers on his favourite subject; the management of Fibromyalgia and other chronic pain syndromes.

Chris loves to educate both his clients and students in a fun and uniquely informative way. Here he is wearing a muscle suit to help his students understand how tissues get injured in everyday shoulder movements.
